On September 2, 2023, the opening game of the collegiate football season will kick off at Bryant Denny Stadium, with Middle Tennessee State taking on the Alabama Crimson Tide. This game will take place 30 days from now, on September 2.
Roll Tide Wire will keep track of the number of days left before Nick Saban and his team take the field and countdown those days.
With just 30 days remaining, we look at Dont’a Hightower, who is widely considered one of the best linebackers in Alabama football history.
Before being taken in the first round of the 2012 NFL Draft, Hightower roamed the field for the Alabama defense from 2008 to 2011. He then went on to be drafted by the NFL.
During his career with the Tide, Hightower recorded 234 tackles, 21 tackles for losses of 5 yards or more, and five sacks. Hightower announced his retirement from the National Football League in March of 2023.
It is anticipated that Jihaad Campbell, a sophomore linebacker for the Crimson Tide who currently wears the number 30, will compete for one of the starting inside linebacker spots this fall. Campbell now wears the number 30.
