Class of 2023 recruit decommits from Nebraska

Just three and a half weeks after committing to the University of Nebraska, a four-star edge rusher has decided to reopen his commitment.

Cameron Lenhardt of IMG Academy announced Sunday afternoon that he would decommitting from the Cornhuskers. He stated on social media,

“First off I would like to thank the whole Nebraska staff for giving me this opportunity and I would like to thank the Nebraska fans for showing me nothing but love.

I want to thank Coach Dawson and Coach Chin especially for giving me this opportunity.

I have to protect myself as an athlete so please respect my decision. This was not an easy decision but this is a decision that will affect my life’s path. I am decommitting.”

It was back on August 25th that Lenhardt had committed to Nebraska, telling Bryan Munson of On3,

“after going through the whole process, I really felt like the coaching staff at Nebraska was genuine and authentic with me.”

Now three and half weeks later, Lenhardt is walking away, and Nebraska is breaking a new defensive coordinator after the firing of Erik Chinanader on Sunday afternoon.

Following the decommitment, the Huskers are now left with 13 recruits in the Class of 2023.

Omarion Miller - Wide Receiver

Riley Van Poppel - Defensive Tackle

Gunnar Gottula - Offensive Line

Sam Sledge - Offensive Line

Brock Knutson - Offensive Line

Dylan Rogers - Linebacker
