Clemson bounces back with a win over rivals No.23 South Carolina

Erik Bakich and the Clemson baseball team put together a great win Thursday night as the Tigers took down rivals No.23 South Carolina 5-2 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

The first game of the series, this win snapped a four-game losing streak as the Tigers look to get back on track early in the season.

They also delivered South Carolina their first loss this season in this win.

Just liked the way we set the tone on the opening game of the series,”

Clemson coach Erik Bakich said. “We know there’s a lot more weekend left to play.”

Freshman Cam Cannarella continued his hot start, securing three of the Tigers’ nine hits in the game,

with Blake Wright ripping off two hits and scoring two runs. Cooper Ingle launched his third home run of the season in the process.

Jackson Lindley was awarded the win on the mound for the Tigers, pitching 2.1 innings, allowing one run with three strikeouts.

Clemson will attempt to secure a series win Saturday when it shifts to Fluor Field in Greenville, with the first pitch set for 1 p.m.
