ESPN on Clemson commit Peter Woods' jump to the top defensive player in the 2023 class

Dabo Swinney and the Clemson football program have put together a strong 2023 recruiting class headline ,

by two big names in quarterback Christopher Vizzina and defensive linemen Peter Woods.

As the 2023 recruiting cycle winds down, outlets such as 247Sports and ESPN update their class rankings accordingly.

According to ESPN’s updated 2023 class rankings, Peter Woods is now the top-ranked defensive player in the country,

ranking No.4 overall in the class.

Woods made a lot of noise at the Under Armour All-American game,

dominating a full week of practice before being one of the top performers in the game itself.

Clemson got themselves a future game wrecker in the young defensive linemen.

Here is what ESPN had to say about Woods jumping up to the top defensive player in the 23′ class

The biggest QB disrupter in the class is also the only non-QB among the top five in the ESPN 300.

He jumped onto our radar as a sophomore and not only solidified his five-star status as a senior but earned a bump inside the top 10 with a dominant performance during Under Armour All-America Game week.

At 6-foot-3, 275 pounds, his lack of length and physical upside may concern some, but his explosiveness is undeniable.

He is extremely quick off the snap, can play with leverage and power, and has a tenacious finishing style.
