Five-star QB decommits from Ohio State

More than ever, it’s getting harder and harder to keep a college football commitment. With NIL taking center stage,

a pledge to a school is just a minor step these days in a long, arduous journey to keep that player committed and officially signed when it’s time to push the paper in front of him.

The latest casualty of the world we now live in is the breaking news that 5-star 2024 quarterback,

and the No. 1 recruit in the cycle, Dylan Raiola, has decommitted from the Ohio State football program.

The news was shared on social media Saturday and leaves OSU without a major building block in the class.

There were signs of a change of heart by the 6-foot-3-inches, 225-pounder from Arizona leading up to the announcement.

Railoa had removed mentions of Ohio State and his commitment video from his social media pages and —

while usually very vocal after an OSU commitment — was extremely quiet after the verbal of  5-star 2024 receiver Jeremiah Smith this week.

The 6’3 225 QB from Chandler, AZ had been Committed to the Buckeyes since May.

We now have to wonder where Ohio State goes from here. It will no doubt be on the prowl for a talented quarterback to take his place.

Whether Ryan Day and staff turn toward the other QB that has an offer on the table, Charlotte native, Jadyn Davis, or looks elsewhere remains to be seen.
