Georgia vs. Auburn: Last 10 games between hated rivals

Georgia and Auburn have played each other 126 times dating back to 1892.

The Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry is one of the best in college football, and the hatred between the two programs is as real as it gets.

Georgia leads the series 62-56-8, but lately it hasn’t felt like much of a rivalry.

Auburn’s still Auburn, so Georgia fans always have a slight concern in the back of their heads on game day.

But the results speak for themselves: UGA has won 14 of the last 17 games against the Tigers and 8 of the last 10.

Auburn’s two wins in the last 10 meetings include the 2013 Prayer at Jordan-Hare,

where Auburn needed a miracle to beat a less talented Georgia team, and the 2017 blowout.

Georgia, less than a month later, would have their turn to blowout Auburn in the SEC Championship Game.

As you’ll see below, Auburn has not been much of an issue for Georgia over the last 10+ years.

Sure, UGA fans hate the Tigers, but at the end of the day the numbers never lie.

Take a look through the last 10 meetings in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry…

10. 2013: The Prayer at Jordan-Hare. Georgia falls 43-38 The Prayer at Jordan-Hare. It still hurts, but it was one of the greatest games and plays in the history of college football. Georgia just happened to be on the wrong side of history that night.

9. 2014: Todd Gurley returned from suspension. A torn ACL overshadowed a 34-7 UGA win. This is one of my favorite Georgia games I’ve ever been to. It was cold, really cold. But it was also Todd Gurley’s first game back after a four game suspension. The place was wild, and both Gurley and Chubb had over 130 rushing yards.

8. 2015: Isaiah McKenzie saves the day with a 4th quarter punt return for a touchdown. Georgia wins 20-13. This game was…boring. Neither team eclipsed 300 yards, but McKenzie’s fourth quarter punt return for a touchdown saved the day.

7. 2016: Georgia wins a defensive battle 13-7 Defensive back Maurice Smith got the Dawgs going with a pick-six. Nick Chubb went for 101 yards.

6. 2017: Dawgs get blown out, falls 40-17 Nothing went right for Georgia on this night. Dawgs got blown out and UGA fans felt the magical season was coming to an end.

5. 2017 (SEC Championship Game): Georgia gets revenge with a 28-7 victory, wins the SEC and books its ticket to the College Football Playoff After an embarrassing road loss to the Tigers less than a month earlier, Georgia regrouped and absolutely dominated Auburn to win the 2017 SEC Championship. The win clinched Georgia a spot in the College Football Playoff. Jake Fromm was dialed in, completing 16/22 passes for 183 yards, 2 touchdowns and no interceptions.

4. 2018: Georgia runs past Auburn, wins 27-10 in Athens D’Andre Swift ran for 186 yards and Elijah Holyfield tallied 93 as the Dawgs put up 303 rushing yards to beat Auburn.

3. 2019: Jake Fromm, Georgia hold off Auburn. Dawgs win 21-14 in Auburn Jake Fromm and the Dawgs jumped out to a 21-0 lead before Auburn tried to rally back. Georgia held the Tigers off and won it 21-14.

2. 2020: Georgia wins 27-6 in Athens It was pure domination from the start. Georgia recorded 442 yards to Auburn’s 216. Stetson Bennett threw for 240 yards, 1 touchdown and no interceptions.

1. 2021: Ladd McConkey, Georgia cruise 34-10 Auburn actually got out to a 3-0 lead. But next, you think you know, Georgia’s walking away with a 34-10 win behind a 135 yard, 1 touchdown day from wide receiver Ladd McConkey.
