New games on Xbox this week: Take to the gridiron in Madden 23
August is a pretty slow time for Xbox in terms of new game releases, but this week marks perhaps the most exciting time of the month if you’re a sports fan.
That’s because this week marks the arrival of Madden 23.
Madden 23 is officially set to release on Friday, August 19; however, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members with EA Play and those who pre-ordered the All Madden Edition can start playing on August 16.
This year’s focal point is on FieldSENSE, a new gameplay system that serves as the foundation for consistent and ultra-realistic gameplay.
Comprised of four main pillars — Hit Everything, Skill-Based Passing, 360° Cuts, and WR vs DB Battles — FieldSENSE looks like a major leap forward for the franchise.
It’s worth noting, however, that FieldSENSE is only available on the Xbox Series X|S versions of Madden 23.
Tribes of Midgard is another exciting game making its way to Xbox this week, just in time for Season 3: Inferno.
Tribes of Midgard is a multiplayer co-op game that blends action, survival, and roguelite elements as you defend your village from hordes of invaders threatening to destroy the Seed of Yggdrasil, the sacred tree you’ve sworn to protect.

As you can see, there’s a ton of variety coming to Xbox this week. Way of the Hunter offers an authentic hunting experience supported by a compelling story.
Chameneon is an absolutely beautiful 2D platformer/runner in which you surf the neon lines in cyberspace in an effort to defeat a powerful virus.
But one of the games I’m most looking forward to is Cursed Golf, which puts a unique adventure twist on the game of golf.
