Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans has been suspended for one game by the NFL for his role in Sunday’s brawl with New Orleans Saints cornerback Marshon Lattimore.
Evans came off the sidelines after Lattimore had exchanged words with Tom Brady
and shoved Leonard Fournette in the face, knocking Lattimore to the ground.
This isn’t the first time Evans has been suspended for defending a teammate from Lattimore.
A similar situation occurred back in 2017,
when Evans hit Lattimore from behind after the Saints cornerback put his hands on then-Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston after a play.
Evans will have the opportunity to appeal the ruling. If the suspension is upheld,
Evans will miss Sunday’s home opener against the Green Bay Packers.
No other suspensions were handed down, but additional fines are likely.
