Ben Minich becomes latest 2023 ND Football commit

Notre Dame added another piece to its 2023 football recruiting class.

Ben Minich, a three-star safety from Lakota West High School in West Chester, Ohio,

announced his commitment to the Irish via YouTube stream on Friday night.

He recently visited South Bend on July 28 after receiving his offer from Notre Dame on July 20.

Minich, listed at 5-foot-11, 185 pounds, is listed as the 563rd best player in the 2023 class and the 51st best safety,

according to 247sports Composite. He chose the Irish over Stanford, Oklahoma, Kentucky and Cincinnati.

Minich became the third safety to join Notre Dame's top-ranked 2023 class,

joining Peyton Bowen (No. 47) and Adon Shuler (No. 245). The Irish currently hold the top-ranked 2024 class, too.

Minich became the second recruit in as many days to commit to Notre Dame,

following four-star linebacker Jaiden Ausberry, who announced his decision Thursday night.

The Irish are also in on four-star running back Dylan Edwards, who decommitted from Kansas State last week,

recently visited Notre Dame and is announcing his decision on Aug. 6.

Notre Dame is slated to lose fifth-year senior safeties Houston Griffith and DJ Brown after the 2022 season.

Redshirt junior, and Northwestern transfer, Brandon Joseph could be an NFL Draft prospect after this year.

Beyond that, the Irish could bring back a large portion of their safety room,

with juniors Ramon Henderson and Xavier Watts, and sophomore Justin Walters, candidates to return for the 2023 season.
