oklahoma Sooners up 2 spots, USC cracks top 10 in latest AP Top 25 poll

Moving up two spots is becoming a bit of a theme this week for the Oklahoma Sooners and top 25 polls.

After beating UTEP in week one, the Sooners moved up from No. 9 to No. 7 and remain the highest ranked team in the Big 12 with Baylor and Oklahoma State at No. 9 and No. 11 respectively.

The Sooners also moved up to No. 7 in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll.

Texas and Kansas State both received votes, but neither cracked the top 25.

The big news in the AP Poll for this week was Georgia jumping Ohio State to become the new No. 2 team in the country

and Michigan pulling ahead of Clemson for No. 4. Brent Venables’ former team is coming off a 41-10 win against Georgia Tech. https://twitter.com/AP_Top25/status/1567215980262072322?s=20&t=4P4PGThHSxf4quCVfhqPYw

USC joins the top ten just one game into the Lincoln Riley era. The Trojans sit just three spots behind the Sooners at No. 10 in the country after beating Rice 66-14.

With a favorable schedule to start the season, the Trojans could be sitting much closer to the top five before their matchup on the road against Utah.

Poor Oregon. The Ducks started the Dan Lanning era at No. 12, and have fallen out of the top 25 entirely after a 49-3 loss to Georgia.

Texas ramains on the outside looking in of the top 25 and will likely stay that way with Alabama coming to Austin this week.

If Quinn Ewers’ car got towed during a blowout win, what’s going to happen during a blowout loss?

Assuming the Sooners take care of Kent State and Nebraska, moving past Texas A&M is a distinct possibility in the near future.

The Aggies have Miami and Arkansas looming on their schedule after a week two matchup with Appalachian State.
