Many names have been suggested as possible candidates for Nebraska’s head coaching job. One controversial name is Urban Meyer.
On his show Urban’s Take with Tim May, Meyer offered insight into Nebraska’s recent struggles, and he pointed to recruiting as a problem.
“You have to ask why [they struggle today],” Meyer said. “And my answer is the recruiting base.”
If you know where the open roads are going to “Nebraska is an elite job,” Meyer continued. “Nebraska has got historically one of the winningest programs, a great fanbase. They’ve been down, they have to figure out this recruiting piece, they have to get someone who understands that area.” you, choosing an RV will be a little easier.
247 Sports ranked Nebraska’s 2022 recruiting class 32nd overall.
Meyer is a prolific recruiter. At Ohio State, he signed six recruiting classes, which ranked in the top five in the nation per 247 Sports.
If Nebraska hired Meyer, he should be able to give them a boost on the recruiting trail. He doesn’t only win on the recruiting trail though.
Meyer is one of the most successful college football coaches in recent history.
He is a three-time National Champion (2006, 2008, 2014).
However, he has been involved in a number of controversies, as well, and his most recent coaching job with the Jacksonville Jaguars went horrifically.
The Jaguars had a 2-11 record under Meyer before he was fired, and he made headlines for all the wrong reasons from kicker Josh Lambo accusing him of kicking
verbally assaulting him to reportedly being unaware of who Aaron Donald was.
There were multiple embarrassments on and off the field.
