Zach Wilson picks up where he left off with strong day at Jets camp

Zach Wilson threw a couple of touchdown passes during a red-zone drill.

He rolled out and pump-faked before fitting a pass where only Xavier Gipson could catch it.

He later hit tight end Kenny Yeboah, who made the catch falling backward in the end zone.

It was a good bridge between Wilson’s promising preseason opener and his likely second start later this week against Carolina.

C.J. Egg Tough day for tight end C.J. Uzomah. He didn’t get his head around fast enough to catch a ball off the line of scrimmage. He was the target on an interception.

And he was flagged for offensive pass interference when he helped free Corey Davis over the middle for a completion.

Caught My Eye There were three runs called during the first 11-on-11 period for the starters. The first went to Michael Carter, the second to Zonovan Knight and the third to rookie Israel Abanikanda.

All three backs took turns with the second-teamers, too.

That goes to show that, with Breece Hall still on the physically unable to perform list, the competition to be the starting running back remains wide open.

Rodgers Report Aaron Rodgers was intercepted twice by reserves who were getting a rare shot to play with the starters.

Cornerback Jimmy Moreland picked off an overthrow to the corner and returned it the full length of the sideline,

with Sauce Gardner and defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich running down to celebrate in the far end zone.

Rookie Zaire Barnes corralled a pass tipped by John Franklin-Myers. Rodgers rebounded with a red-zone touchdown pass to Randall Cobb on his final throw.
