Penn State’s spring football workouts are getting close to the end of the season, and the yearly Blue-White Game is coming up soon. As spring goes on, people keep looking forward to fall from all sides.
One thing to look at is how many wins Penn State is expected to get this season. A hopeful Penn State fan may like what a famous casino has to say about the over/under for the Nittany Lions this season.
Based on the latest numbers from FanDuel, the over/under for Penn State’s win total for the 2023 season is 9.5. For the Nittany Lions, that seems like a good number.
If you read my way-too-early (or way-too-optimistic) game-by-game expectations for the season, you already know that I think this is a number that should be jumped on as soon as possible. Since 2016, Penn State has had four seasons with 11 wins and only two full seasons outside of COVID with fewer than 9.5 wins. (9 wins in 2018 and 7 wins in 2021).
Penn State is a pretty big favorite to beat West Virginia at home to start the season, and a way-too-early spread from FanDuel has Penn State as a double-digit favorite to beat Iowa at home.
Penn State is likely to be the favorite in almost every game during the regular season, except for a road game at Ohio State and maybe a home game against Michigan.
Ohio State has always been able to beat Penn State, and Michigan has been the Big Ten champion for the past two years, beating Penn State both times.
