Throughout the weekend, Ohio State did not have much success recruiting linebackers.
Two of their top remaining objectives, Edwin Spillman and Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa, have decided to spend their time and energy elsewhere.
Because many of the best athletes in the country have already committed to their institutions, the Ohio State Buckeyes will have difficulty locating a third linebacker for the 2024 season.
The fact that Garrett Stover and Peyton Pierce have already committed means that the supply closet isn’t bare, which is good news. However, Stover could play safety at some point in the future.
Since it was evident that the coaching staff wanted a third in the class for the Buckeyes, let’s look at who among the class’s players has the potential to play that position.
The outlook appears rather gloomy when one considers the existing pool of uncommitted targets. Although the Buckeyes provided Viliamu-Asa with significant resources, the organization could not achieve its goals.
If you want to find another player for the position in 2024, looking through the transfer portal is your best choice, but you shouldn’t do that just yet.
It would be prudent to give former Clemson Tiger TJ Dudley and Northwestern Wildcat Justin Cryer a shot at the position now. (It should be noted that Cryer decided to attend Florida State after this information was made public.)
