Two former Notre Dame standouts on XFL rosters to start 2023

The third times the charm.  At least football fans are hoping that to be true in regards to the XFL.

The football league that was built on everything extreme in 2001 came back in 2000 with a much calmer look, only to have COVID cost it the season.

It kicks off this weekend as the league gets a third try.

Vince McMahon isn’t heading this league though as it’s instead led by Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) and other investors.

Eight teams will play in the league this year and two former Notre Dame standouts will participate on one of those eight teams.

Jack Coan is set to quarterback the San Antonio Brahmas while tight end Alize Mack is also on their roster.

Mack played his final year at Notre Dame on the 2018 squad while Coan transferred in for the 2021 season from Wisconsin.

The San Antonio head coach is a former NFL player most football fans will remember as well – Hines Ward, Super Bowl XL MVP and former Pittsburgh Steelers star.

You can check out Coan, Mack, and Ward all on Sunday as the Brahmas host the St. Louis Battlehawks on Sunday.

The game can be seen on ABC at 3:00 p.m. ET.
