Notre Dame football hires new director of scouting : The only job on the Notre Dame football coaching staff that was still vacant was for the director of scouting.
Because of the importance of the position, Irish head coach Marcus Freeman took his time deciding to add Matt Jansen as the newest member of the coaching staff for the Irish.
Jansen was West Virginia’s director of player personnel and scouting before joining Notre Dame. Notre Dame’s Jansen joined West Virginia.
In South Bend, his duties will shift slightly, with more emphasis on scouting than before.
In 2006, Jensen started his career in coaching at Texas Tech, where he was a student assistant coach at the time.
Before enrolling at West Virginia University in 2019, he spent time with two different NFL clubs before moving.
