The 10 college programs with the most NFL draft picks since 2000

The NFL talent that collegiate football schools develop is frequently used to measure their performance. Everyone has been more effective at developing players than the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Ohio State Buckeyes, but recruiting also has a significant influence on this.

The SEC, which holds four of the top five positions on this list, has generated more NFL talent than any other league since 2000. Since Nick Saban took over, Alabama has been a powerful force in the draft, but oddly enough, the Tide have never been selected first overall in the NFL selection. However, as the Carolina Panthers appear to be slipping, Bryce Young might become the first at the end of the month.

  1. Michigan Wolverines (113)

Jim Harbaugh’s leadership has significantly improved the Wolverines’ reputation. The Wolverines have been victorious in luring top players and participating in the College Football Playoffs for two consecutive seasons. The most noteworthy Wolverine in recent years has been Aidan Hutchinson, who was selected second overall in the 2022 draft.

  1. Oklahoma Sooners (113)

Since 2000, the Sooners have sent some of the NFL’s best players, particularly at quarterback.

  1. Florida State Seminoles (114)

Although Florida State has had many challenges lately, particularly following the departures of Jameis Winston and Jimbo Fisher, it is impossible to dispute the program’s standing in the college football landscape.

  1. USC Trojans (120)

Like FSU, USC has bounced between coaches and quarterback play; but now that they have both solved, they are going to be a massive problem for years to come.

  1. Miami Hurricanes (124)

The Miami Hurricanes are one of the most storied programs in the history of college football. The things they were able to do in the early 2000s are things we will never see again.

  1. Florida Gators (128)

The Florida Gators have been one of the wildest programs to follow in the 21st century and at one point had a roster that included both Cam Newton and Tim Tebow.

  1. Georgia Bulldogs (139)

In the past couple of years, the Georgia Bulldogs have cemented themselves among the elite in college football.

  1. LSU Tigers (143)

Similar to Georgia, the LSU Tigers have found a lot of success in recent years.

  1. Alabama Crimson Tide (144)

The Crimson Tide have a number of guys who will likely hear their name called this year on top of Young such as Will Anderson Jr., Jordan Battle and Jahmyr Gibbs to name a few.

  1. Ohio State Buckeyes (157)

The Buckeyes have had a down year here and there, but they have probably been the most consistent team since 2000.
